Can TL help with Australian standards and compliance requirements?

Identify the applicable product and project requirements early, then connect them to the supplier, documents and production scope.

The short answer

TL can support sourcing around specified Australian project requirements by coordinating supplier discussions, documentation, testing and production follow-up. TL is not a certification body or regulatory authority, and we do not provide a blanket certification for every product we source.

Identify what applies to the actual product

Requirements depend on the product, intended use and project conditions. Some requirements are mandatory under applicable rules; others arise from project specifications or contractual requirements. An overseas supplier’s general statement of compliance is not enough to establish what applies to your product.

Clarify the relevant requirements with the project’s responsible technical advisers or applicable authority before supplier selection and production approval. Where specialist assessment is needed, it should form part of the plan rather than being left until shipment.

Connect requirements to evidence

  • Confirm the relevant specification and product configuration
  • Ask what documents, tests or approvals are needed
  • Check that supplier evidence relates to the proposed product
  • Resolve material or design changes that affect the requirement
  • Coordinate samples, testing and production follow-up as agreed

Experience in documented project requirements

TL’s modular accommodation case involved project requirements relating to AS 2047, Region D specifications and Australian glazing requirements. Our electric coach case involved coordination through the required Australian ADR approval process.

These are examples of project-specific coordination. They do not mean every product, factory or later order is automatically covered by the same evidence or approval. A different design, application or component can require further review.

How TL supports this

Our role is to help keep client requirements, supplier technical information and testing or approval-related actions connected. The client, relevant specialists, suppliers and approval bodies retain their respective responsibilities. We work within the agreed project scope and avoid treating a sourcing relationship as a substitute for the required assessment.
