01 · Project context

Project Overview

TL Enterprises coordinated a large-scale, multi-category supply program for 1,000 modular accommodation rooms across two remote Western Australian sites: Port Hedland and Karratha.

The scope brought together products from different manufacturing disciplines, each with its own specifications, suppliers and production requirements. TL coordinated these categories within one sourcing and supply program, supporting a large-scale modular accommodation project in remote Western Australia.

02 · The brief

The Requirement

The accommodation program required a project-specific supply solution spanning building materials, SPC flooring, doors, windows, glazing, custom cabinetry, furniture and room furnishings. Bed frames, mattresses, curtains, televisions and other fit-out products also formed part of the scope.

Products needed to be confirmed and developed around the client's drawings, dimensions and project specifications. Coordinating this breadth meant aligning the requirements of individual products with the wider accommodation program.

Multi-Category Sourcing & Supply

Materials, glazing systems, joinery and room furnishings draw on different manufacturing disciplines. TL coordinated supplier communication and specification development across four main supply categories.

01

Building & Interior Materials

SPC flooring, building materials and internal fit-out materials sourced around the accommodation specifications and construction requirements.

02

Doors, Windows & Glazing

Windows, bifold doors, ghost doors and module entry doors, with glazing and relevant systems developed to meet the required Australian standards and project specifications.

03

Custom Furniture & Joinery

Fire-retardant cabinetry, custom wardrobes and cabinets, and TV, desk and robe combinations produced around drawings and room layouts.

04

Room Fit-out & Furnishings

Bed frames, mattresses, curtains, televisions and other room components coordinated as part of the broader accommodation supply program.

04 · Custom manufacturing

From Drawings to Production

Furniture was developed from client drawings and project dimensions, including custom robe, TV and desk configurations. Right-hand and left-hand room layouts were considered where required, with supplier production coordinated around the specified dimensions and construction requirements.

TL's role included communicating the design requirements to suppliers, clarifying specifications and following production as the furniture moved from drawing to manufactured components and assembled joinery.

05 · Specification-led development

Meeting Australian Standards and Project Requirements

Australian projects require specifications, materials, performance requirements and applicable standards to be understood before full production. For this project, products were developed, manufactured and supplied to meet the required Australian standards and project specifications.

  • AS 2047 requirementsWindows and relevant door systems were developed to meet the required AS 2047 project requirements.
  • Region D specificationsModule entry doors were developed to meet the project's Region D requirements.
  • Australian glazing requirementsGlazing was supplied to meet the required Australian compliance requirements for the project.

TL coordinated specification clarification, supplier development and testing follow-up around the applicable requirements for each product. The final solutions progressed through review and refinement before client acceptance.

06 · Review process

Testing, Review & Refinement

The project required multiple rounds of testing, review and product refinement before the final specifications were accepted by the client.

TL coordinated supplier communication, samples and specifications, technical clarification, production adjustments and testing follow-up. This work helped suppliers resolve specification issues and incorporate the required changes before final production coordination.

07 · Production management

Production Coordination at Scale

Across 1,000 rooms, multiple custom categories needed to remain aligned through production schedules, specifications, supplier communication, manufacturing progress, quality requirements and delivery timing.

TL's China-based sourcing team supported direct supplier communication, technical clarification and production follow-up. Coordinating the categories within one program enabled the project scope to be managed as a connected procurement requirement.
