Can TL arrange factory visits before or after a trade show?
Factory visits can add useful context when the suppliers, locations and meeting objectives are planned realistically.
The short answer
Yes, depending on the supplier locations, meeting availability and agreed project scope. A factory visit can be planned before or after an exhibition to discuss requirements and see the manufacturing capability relevant to your product.
Select visits with a clear purpose
Prioritise suppliers whose capabilities fit your brief, rather than visiting every contact collected at the event. Decide whether the purpose is technical discussion, production review, sample evaluation or a first assessment of the facility.
Ask which facility you will be visiting and what processes are carried out there. The sales office, showroom and production site may be in different locations. Confirm what can be seen and who should join the meeting.
Build a practical meeting plan
- Prepare a supplier shortlist and visit objectives
- Confirm factory addresses and meeting availability
- Allow realistic travel and discussion time
- Share the product brief, drawings or questions in advance
- Identify who will support language and technical discussions
- Record next actions and follow-up responsibilities
Do not overfill the itinerary
A rushed visit can leave important questions unanswered. Travel between manufacturing locations may take longer than the map distance suggests, and the right technical staff may not be available at every time.
The trip should support a sourcing decision, not simply maximise the number of meetings. Some questions can be resolved through documents or samples before travel, making the visit more focused.
How TL supports this
TL can coordinate supplier meetings, requirement briefings, timing and discussion support within the agreed scope. Our Shanghai team can continue supplier follow-up after the visit. This is sourcing and project coordination support; it does not make TL a travel agency or replace the arrangements you need for personal travel.
