From requirement to deployment
Project Overview
TL Enterprises coordinated customised solar lighting towers for an Australian mining-sector client. The units have now been deployed across five mine sites, taking the project from a sourcing requirement into real remote-site use.
The project brings together mining application experience, product configuration and on-site deployment. It also forms part of the experience behind the specialist lighting tower capability now offered through IronWest.
Understanding the application
The Requirement
Mine-site lighting needs to be considered in the context of the work area, movement around the site and the conditions in which equipment will be used. A useful sourcing brief goes beyond selecting a light: it defines how a unit will be transported, set up, powered, accessed and maintained.
Depending on the application, the requirements may include lighting coverage, mast height, mobility, power autonomy, remote operation, environmental conditions and integration with other site equipment. These are factors to clarify with the client rather than assumptions to apply to every project.
- Site & lighting needsCoverage, positioning, mast requirements and operating conditions.
- Deployment & accessTransport, setup, stabilisation and maintenance access.
- Power & integrationAutonomy, control and any project-specific auxiliary requirements.

Configuration around the brief
A Solution Built Around the Site
TL’s approach is to coordinate a configuration around the intended application, working through requirements with the client and suppliers before production and delivery.
For lighting tower projects, the discussion can cover solar capacity and battery storage, light output and mast arrangement, trailer layout and stabilisation, monitoring and communications, and auxiliary power connections or accessories. The final scope depends on the project brief and agreed specifications.
Practical details matter
Equipment layout, access to controls and service points, and deployment arrangements all need to be considered alongside lighting performance. The historical site photographs show the supplied equipment in its working environment.
Specific capacities and optional systems shown in the current IronWest range below are presented as today’s product capability; they are not stated as the configuration of these historical units.

Real project evidence
Real Mine-Site Deployment
Lighting towers have now been deployed across five mine sites. These photographs document actual mine-site setup, including raised masts, deployed solar panels, trailers and stabiliser arrangements.
The original The Edge branding remains visible in the historical photographs, preserving the record of how these units were delivered.

Current capability · project-specific options
Customisation Beyond Lighting
Current IronWest lighting tower solutions can provide a starting point for broader site requirements. Depending on the application and agreed configuration, discussions can include surveillance cameras, motion tracking, speakers, communications equipment, Starlink auxiliary connections and external power outlets.
These are current options to assess against the site brief. They are not a statement that every option was included in the historical mining project.
Brand evolution
From Project Experience to a Specialist Power Brand
This project was originally delivered under The Edge branding. TL Enterprises has since consolidated its lighting tower and specialist power solutions under IronWest, our dedicated Power & Energy brand.
IronWest now brings together lighting towers, generators, battery systems and related power solutions. The Edge continues as TL’s separate mining and industrial supplies business.

Solar & Diesel Lighting Tower Solutions
TL’s project experience is now supported by a specialist range that includes solar and diesel lighting towers, with configuration discussed around the intended site use.

Solar lighting towers
The current IW-89V range includes a 9 m hydraulic mast, lithium battery storage, solar charging and hydraulic stabilisers. Monitoring and auxiliary equipment options can be discussed against project requirements.

Diesel lighting towers
Heavy-duty diesel lighting solutions provide high-output illumination and extended operation for demanding sites. Suitability, configuration and operating requirements should be reviewed for each application.
