Project overview
The starting brief
was simple: 15BBL.
Tall Timbers Brewing Co. was developing a commercial brewery in Manjimup, Western Australia. The client defined the required production capacity; TL helped develop the equipment configuration to turn that brief into a complete working brewery.
The scope extended beyond individual machines. Malt handling, brewing, fermentation, cooling, cleaning, controls and keg handling needed to work together as one production system.

Equipment scope
What We Coordinated
Malt Handling
Malt milling, grist handling and transfer equipment configured around the project requirements.
Brewhouse
15BBL mash / lauter and kettle / whirlpool system with a 30BBL hot liquor tank.
Fermentation
Multiple 15BBL fermentation vessels with temperature control, cooling and cleaning systems.
Cooling & Heat Exchange
Plate heat exchanger, glycol cooling, chillers, pumps and associated pipework.
Cleaning & Process Control
CIP system, sanitary piping, temperature monitoring, flow control and PLC-based process control.
Keg Handling
Commercial keg washing equipment integrated into the overall brewery setup.

More than equipment sourcing
A brewery is not a collection of standalone tanks.
Each component needs to work within the same production process, from malt handling and water preparation through brewing, cooling, fermentation, cleaning and finished beer handling.
TL coordinated equipment dimensions, pipework, pumps, heat exchange, refrigeration, process control and electrical requirements. Site needs were incorporated into the specification, including 415V / 50Hz three-phase electrical requirements.
The system specification included Siemens PLC-based control for key brewing and cooling functions: temperature monitoring, pump control, fermentation cooling and refrigeration equipment.

Production & Quality Control
Following the details
through production.
TL’s Shanghai sourcing team remained involved through supplier communication, specification review, production follow-up, component checks and equipment inspection, helping resolve issues before shipment.
Review areas included SUS304 stainless steel, internal finishing, sanitary pipework, weld quality, CIP cleaning access, temperature control and component compatibility. Testing and troubleshooting were coordinated around the agreed project requirements.

From factory to Western Australia
Coordination beyond production.
TL remained involved through international freight, installation guidance, commissioning support and after-sales coordination, keeping the equipment requirements connected to the project’s delivery and operating needs.

Commercial outcome
Lessthan half.Comparable local procurement estimate at the time
Direct sourcing.
Coordinated delivery.
By sourcing directly from specialist manufacturers and managing the project through the China-based sourcing team, the complete system was delivered at less than half the comparable local procurement estimate available to the client at the time.
The saving came from combining direct sourcing with specification development, production coordination, quality control and international supply management.
Project-specific historical comparison only. Current equipment costs vary by specification, supplier, freight, exchange rates and project requirements.
The result
From a 15BBL brief to
a complete working brewery.
The project became a working commercial brewery in Manjimup, Western Australia. The result went beyond shipping equipment: individual systems were coordinated into a brewery capable of ongoing operation.
