Project Overview

A sourcing relationship built around orchard operations.

Established Apple Orchard
Manjimup, Western Australia

A Western Australian apple orchard required a reliable sourcing partner for infrastructure and operational equipment that was difficult to source competitively through local channels.

The relationship began with anti-hail netting used to help protect orchard crops from seasonal hail exposure. Over subsequent seasons, TL continued coordinating repeat supply and later expanded the sourcing scope into orchard handling equipment, including foldable bulk containers for fruit movement, storage and transport.

Rather than treating each requirement as an isolated purchase, TL supported the client as an ongoing China sourcing partner.

The Requirement

Orchard operations involve very different procurement requirements — from protective materials installed across growing areas to durable equipment used during harvest and transport.

The client needed products matched to the intended application, dependable manufacturers, consistent quality across repeat orders and practical delivery into regional Western Australia.

Orchard Protection

Anti-Hail Netting

The sourcing relationship began with anti-hail netting for orchard protection.

TL worked with suppliers in China to coordinate the required product specification, production and shipment for use in the client's Western Australian orchard.

The product became a repeat seasonal sourcing requirement, with TL continuing to support the client over multiple years.

Harvest & Handling

Foldable Produce Containers

As the relationship developed, TL also began supporting other requirements within the orchard's day-to-day operations.

Heavy-duty foldable containers were sourced for fruit handling, transport and storage, combining high load capacity with a collapsible design that reduces space requirements when the containers are empty.

Coordinated Supply

How TL Supported the Project

Supplier Sourcing

Identifying manufacturers capable of producing agricultural products to the required specification.

Specification Coordination

Turning the client's operational requirements into clear supplier briefs and product specifications.

Production Follow-Up

Following production, samples and order preparation before shipment.

Repeat Supply

Supporting repeat and seasonal requirements over multiple years.

Category Expansion

Sourcing additional products as the client's operational needs developed.

Freight Coordination

Coordinating supply from China through to Western Australia.

An Ongoing Sourcing Partner

From One Requirement to an Ongoing Sourcing Relationship

The project started with one specialised agricultural requirement: anti-hail netting.

As the relationship developed, the sourcing scope expanded into other equipment used in day-to-day orchard operations.

This is how many TL client relationships develop. We do not work from a fixed catalogue. Once we understand how a business operates, we can continue sourcing different products around its changing requirements.
